the 500 hats of bella ella*
here are pics of ella and her new summer hats........................
these are made from petit mandarin, a 100% cotton norwegian yarn. i used this pattern w/ some revisions of my own. the pattern called for worsted weight and size K hook, i used dk weight and size F for the blue hat and G for the beige hat (really is white w/ pale blue and pink.)
the original pattern increased for 8 rows and i increased for about 14 rows, (to fit ella's crown) then straight single crochet until it was the length i wanted, 2 rows of increase for the beginning of the brim and crochet w/o increases until i ran out of yarn. each hat was 1 skein.

my third pair of jitterbug sox in toscana colorway. i love, love, love this yarn.
note: although i would love to claim it, the throw being used as ella's photo backdrop belongs to the great men of yarn. methinks it's philosopher's wool but i'm not sure who knitted it.

Oh I love the hats! All I ever learned to crochet were straight rows back and forth. hehe
Love the socks too... do you have a favorite pattern that you use?
why thank you. crocheting was the first needlework i learned at about 8 yrs od at my grammy's knee.
i just use the sock pattern on the jitterbug label.
the shawl is philosopher's wool's "Kilim Shawl", and were i to hazard a guess, i'd say marcia probably knit it...i could, of course, be wrong ;-)
maybe if i stay awake from now until wednesday i'll get there before 6 lol
we will be there this wed, albeit a little late. i have a meeting at work at 1:30. hope to be there by 3 and have to leave about 5:15.
thanks for clearing up the mystery. it's a beautiful throw.
Bella and her hats are wonderful! I learned to crochet when I was 7 yrs old, and have only been knitting for about 3 yrs now.
I keep eyeing that same colorway of Colinette... Toscana. It may have to find its way into my stash!
